We all know what astrology is, and we’ve all heard about the horoscope. But when it comes to the credibility of astrology or its effectiveness, we have some major doubts. Why? Because astrology is seen today as a method of character analysis and nothing more. Greek interest in astrology began in the Hellenistic period as Alexander the Great`s conquests exposed Greek thinkers to the Mesopotamian culture. Hellenistic Alexandria was the center of astrology and the Hermetic texts that originated there incorporated astrology into their religious system. The astrology which had been practiced in the Roman Empire was the creation of Greeks (1st -6th centuries AD). The most important astrological writer in the Roman Empire was the Greek astronomer and mathematician, Claudius Ptolemy (2nd century CE), author of the most influential ancient astrological book TETRABIBLOS.
